The purpose of residential security is to create a safe and secure environment for the client to be able to go about day to day life with no encroachment or disruption to their routine. It also creates a contact point for the client 24 hours a day.
An operations room in any large property with a residential team is always advisable as this creates one sole location for all essential monitoring. It also creates a central point/hub for communications and operations.
The operations room should be where the CCTV monitoring equipment, fire alarm monitor, picture alarm, monitor, safe alarm monitor, key press and first aid trauma kit with Defib and vehicle keys are located. It is also the location where the SOP's and KFR files are kept in a secure and sterile environment.
The operations room should be located away from the family living area but must have access to both the property and external areas. Within the operations room, mail can be screened before reaching persons in the property, it is also the room that can operate call screening. Throughout many years of experience an operations room has proved its weight in gold, especially in an emergency situation out of normal working hours where staff availability is very limited.
